Born into a family with cosmopolitan ambitions, Béatrice Serre has made the world her favorite playground. From every corner of the globe she has explored with her family, she carries away indelible memories linked to the people, cultures, and natural elements that have welcomed her. Upon returning to France, she studied tapestry at the Lycée Polyvalent de Sèvres before moving to Paris to study at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art (ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres). It was during her studies that Béatrice created her first mosaic works in marble and granite. It was a revelation! A new vision of an ancestral art
Faithful to the ancient techniques of block carving and hammering, yet drawing on a resolutely contemporary aesthetic, Béatrice Serre has revived a discipline long considered obsolete. Attracted to the energy of stones and minerals, to which she has felt a deep connection since childhood, she chooses to combine the raw and the precious in spectacular creations. Alongside the raw stones she carves, such as slate or lava, Béatrice composes unique chromatic compositions using tesserae of marble or onyx, glass paste, gold enamel, topaz, or lapis lazuli.
