Paul Smith has just opened the Paul Smith Space in its flagship store in London's Mayfair district, affirming its desire to merge fashion, art and technology.

2024 Acrylic on Silk, 210 x 155 cm
Located in the basement of the store on elegant Albemarle Street, this new gallery opens with an exhibition entitled "Fabric of Life," created in collaboration with Vortic, an innovative digital platform. This inaugural exhibition showcases textile works by contemporary artists such as Hangama Amiri, Kimathi Mafafo, and Sarah Zapata, who use fiber to question social and political issues while exploring the cultural and symbolic power of textiles.

Since its inception in the 1970s, the Paul Smith brand has pushed the boundaries of retail by integrating art into its stores, and this new location continues that pioneering vision. "Fabric of Life" can be explored in a completely new way thanks to Vortic, which offers an immersive virtual reality experience. With VR headsets available on-site and online access, Vortic allows visitors to experience the exhibition from anywhere, until January 3, 2025.

The opening of the Paul Smith Space also marks the arrival of Katie Heller, the brand's new head of art programming, who will bring her experience gained at the Whitechapel Gallery and the Frieze Art Fair. Under her direction, the space will offer a rich and diverse program, designed to foster a continuous dialogue between art and fashion. With this new space, Paul Smith reaffirms its unique identity as a designer and collector, continuing its mission to offer a bold and innovative art experience to its audience.
