Showcasing diverse formats and forms of moving images, at the crossroads of visual arts and film, the Contour Biennale celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

A festive edition, then, curated for the first time by artists, via the Brussels-based production and distribution platform Auguste Orts. Diversity and dialogue are the watchwords of this new event, which has no set theme, but was conceived by the artist-curators Anouk De Clercq, Herman Asselberghs, Sven Augustijnen, Manon de Boer, and Fairuz Ghammam to guarantee " a balance between generations, genders and perspectives ».

Primarily focused on new film and video works by artists residing in Belgium, the event takes place in various locations in the picturesque city of Mechelen: the Kunstencentrum Nona, the Hof van Busleyden Museum, the Cinéma Lumière and the De Garage contemporary art space – which hosts an exhibition of sound works – but also in Brussels (at the Argos Centre for audiovisual arts) and in Antwerp (at the Kunsthal Extra City).
