From April 3 to May 3, 2026, Galerie Joseph hosts "Eggxtraordinaire," an extraordinary exhibition conceived by Frédéric Bau and the De Main de Maître association. No fewer than 94 artists and craftspeople celebrate the egg, a perfect form and symbol of creation, in exclusive works that bring together art, craft, and gastronomy. An experience to discover in the heart of the Marais district.

Both nourishing and geometrically perfect, the egg has always fascinated. A symbol of creation, life, birth, and rebirth, it permeates mythologies, traditions, and art history as an inexhaustible source of inspiration. From antiquity to contemporary Easter eggs, it embodies a promise: that of a new beginning.
It is this symbolic power that is celebrated in "Eggxtraordinaire," an exhibition produced by the De Main de Maître association, which invites 94 artisans and artists to highlight the egg, "a universal symbol and perfect form." Pastry chefs, chocolatiers, sculptors, painters, photographers, designers… all have imagined exclusive, sometimes ephemeral, creations, exploring the subtle boundary between craft and art.
Following the success of its inaugural edition in 2023, the event returns this year on a grander scale. Under the leadership of Frédéric Bau, founder of the exhibition and president of the association, "Eggxtraordinaire" stands as a true manifesto for "showcasing the intelligence of the hand, the gesture, and the materials." A leading figure in contemporary pastry, creator of Dulcey blond chocolate, and tireless explorer of taste, Frédéric Bau continues his artistic quest, fueled by years of dialogue between gustatory and visual creation.
Alongside him are two iconic honorary presidents: Pierre Hermé, who elevated pastry-making to an art form, and Patrick Roger, a sculptor guided by his materials, particularly chocolate. Their presence underscores the exhibition's ambition: to bring together worlds that rarely intersect and to evoke emotion.
The location was not chosen at random. Housed at Galerie Joseph, 16 rue des Minimes, in the heart of the Marais district, the exhibition benefits from a bright space, just steps from the Place des Vosges. The contemporary architecture blends with the history of the building to provide a refined and elegant setting for the artworks, inviting contemplation and leisurely exploration.

“Eggxtraordinaire” is also a collective and committed endeavor. The De Main de Maître association, which initiated the project, works to promote the art of chocolate making, pass on the art of beauty to young talents, showcase artisanal heritage, and encourage the use of eco-responsible materials. In this spirit, the 2026 edition will launch a competition for students of manual arts schools. Their creations will be displayed on a Wall of Fame, and the winners will be rewarded with unique experiences, ranging from a masterclass with Frédéric Bau to an exclusive Chocolate Materials Day at the Valrhona School. A concrete way to anchor the exhibition in the transmission of knowledge and the future.
The experience continues with an art book, published by Éditions de La Martinière. Available in bookstores from March 27, this 192-page bilingual work celebrates the creations of the 94 guest artists and traces the rich history of the egg in art. Laurent Fau's photographs, drawn from the world of luxury and gastronomy, transform it into an object that is both aesthetically pleasing and a reminder of the past.
Open to the public from April 3 to May 3, 2026, from 14 pm to 19 pm daily, the exhibition promises an immersive experience where matter is transformed, where chocolate becomes sculpture, and where paper, wood, or metal embrace the perfect curve of the egg. During the Easter holidays, in the heart of Paris, "Eggxtraordinaire" is a must-see for anyone who loves art, gastronomy, and sensory experiences.
Entering Eggxtraordinaire means accepting a new perspective on a symbol we thought familiar. It means allowing ourselves to be surprised by the poetry of a simple form, magnified by 94 unique viewpoints. And leaving with the feeling of having witnessed something remarkable: the encounter between hand, matter, and emotion.
