KALPA AND MOLTENI&C IN NEW YORK AND MIAMI

The Italian gallery KALPA has taken over Molteni&C's spaces in the United States, transforming their showrooms into sensory experiences. An immersion into an aesthetic where art, design, and nature converse in hushed tones, in a precious and rare harmony.

In the Italian furniture manufacturer's two flagship stores, in New York on Madison Avenue and in Miami in the heart of the Design District, the Tuscan gallery places its works like sowing precious seeds: without fanfare, but with extreme attention to the environment and light.

Here, there is no separation between the functional object and the work of art. The sofa is no longer simply a piece of furniture; it becomes the discreet base for a sculpture. The painting does not seek to dominate the wall, but to embrace it. The eye is not guided by labels or descriptions, but by intuition, by the subtle interplay of materials and forms. The frame, designed by Vincent Van Duysen—an architect of detail and measurement—becomes a setting of quiet elegance. It is in this very discretion that the dialogue between artistic creations and furniture takes on its full meaning.
Under the direction of curator Eleonora Raspi, KALPA offers a true symbiosis. Art is invited to share everyday spaces, transforming our perception of them. Designed to run until February 2026, this project is part of a broader collaboration between the gallery and Molteni&C, which began in Italy with the Pavillon de Giussano and the brand-new Palazzo Molteni in Milan. Their shared ambition: to place the individual at the center of a mirrored space, reflecting their sensibility and their story.

The selected artists embody this demanding approach. Guillem Nadal, from Majorca, delves into the layers of telluric memory in his canvases and sculptures, exploring the space between abstraction and inner archaeology. Federico Gori, from Tuscany, engraves the imprints of plant life onto copper, blending extinct fossils with forgotten forms. Konrad Koppold, from Germany, sculpts wood with shamanic precision, erecting totems where asymmetry becomes sublime. Finally, Sabine Pagliarulo, from Rome, shapes terracotta into archaic forms, evoking seashells and primordial gestures.
Together, these works weave a sensitive constellation, a fragmented cartography of our relationship to matter and time. Far from flashy displays, this installation is like a whisper, inviting us to a different temporality: that of attention, slowness, and listening.
This is the success of this collaboration: reconciling art and living spaces without succumbing to either spectacle or market dictates. KALPA and Molteni&C gracefully remind us that true art is first and foremost a way of inhabiting the world.
