NEW JEWEL FROM THE HOUSE OF GUERLAIN
PRESTIGE EDITION
Driven by its commitment to protecting biodiversity, and bees in particular, Guerlain has partnered with the jewelry house Bäumer and the crystal manufacturer Baccarat to reissue the iconic perfume bottle designed by Lorenz Bäumer a decade ago: L' Abeille de Guerlain. This prestigious collaboration reflects the exceptional expertise of these three leading houses.
For those interested in the backstory, Bäumer has been reinventing this modern-day gem for a decade. From clear wings to gold wings, and even silver wings, the new bottle, handcrafted by Baccarat – also responsible for creating the Shalimar bottle – is now adorned with a prestigious new black crystal design: "This bottle was inspired by the black bee from the island of Ouessant, which I love to dream about because of its Art Deco, black and white style..."
The smooth, voluptuous base of the prestigious bottle is first crafted using a metal mold, where the material is then blown by the master glassmakers in the Baccarat workshops. The faceted, transparent crystal wings – cut by one of France's Best Craftsmen – blend seamlessly with the bottle's pressed black crystal head.
“What’s so interesting when working with crystal is anticipating how the light will play on it,” observes Lorenz Bäumer. A total of 25 artisans took turns creating the bottle for L’Abeille Noire Prestige Edition. Once assembled, the masterpiece returned to the Guerlain workshops where skilled craftswomen delicately painted black silk threads, which were then highlighted on the front of the crystal bee.
For this new olfactory gem, Guerlain's master perfumer, Thierry Wasser, created Imagine Guerlain, a perfume extract with woody and floral notes reminiscent of L'Abeille Noire Prestige Edition. Orange blossom, sandalwood, bitter almond… A composition of exhilarating scents fills this luxurious bottle. Available in a limited edition (22 numbered pieces), this iconic perfume bottle remains a true collector's item.
