Sunglasses have moved beyond a purely functional role to become a true tool for expressing one's gaze.

Long considered a mere seasonal accessory, sunglasses now play a central role in shaping an outfit. They no longer simply complement the face: they redefine its lines, modulate its expression, and assert an attitude. At the crossroads of fashion and design, they convey an aesthetic statement, a powerful visual statement.
This season, accessories are even more prominent as the focal point of a stylistic choice, with the face becoming the showcase. At the intersection of outsider art and retro influences, current trends are abandoning discretion in favor of bold structures. The pieces we've spotted emphasize deliberate volume and clean lines.
Given this situation, our selection focused on two aesthetic approaches that redefine style, different visions that share a common commitment to craftsmanship: Kuboraum and Thierry Lasry. Through this approach, we wanted to compare these two conceptions of the gaze as a territory of stylistic expression.
Founded in Berlin, Kuboraum designs handcrafted creations in Italy and rejects the traditional term "eyeglasses," preferring "masks." In the brand's aesthetic, design aims not to conceal the eyes, but to highlight the individuality of the wearer. Its creations are distinguished by textured acetate work, with surfaces sometimes burned, engraved, or hammered that organically capture light. The shapes are architectural, displaying angular contours and substantial yet balanced thicknesses.

The palette remains understated yet powerful: deep matte blacks sit alongside warm olive or red hues. These creations pair perfectly with unstructured jackets, textured fabrics like linen, or minimalist monochrome silhouettes, allowing the frame to become the centerpiece of the wardrobe.

At the other end of the visual spectrum, Parisian designer Thierry Lasry infuses a different energy, guided by the concept of "vintage futurism." Drawing inspiration from the geometric lines of the 1980s and club culture, Lasry designs high-end acetate frames with clean lines and unexpected color combinations.

The brand's style is instantly recognizable by the absence of a visible logo; its signature lies solely in its form and technique. Thierry Lasry notably uses layered acetate sheets to create relief effects, plays on perspective, and subtle contrasts on the temples. Tinted lenses add a strong personality, combining gradient shades with frames in honey, smoky rose, or marbled gray hues. The brand's flagship models elevate a mid-season wardrobe composed of a flowing trench coat or raw denim.

The choice between Berlin's raw aesthetic and Parisian geometry ultimately depends on the desired effect. Kuboraum will suit those seeking a bold yet understated look, while Thierry Lasry will captivate with its graphic and radiant elegance. These two labels share a commitment to independence from fleeting trends. By prioritizing bold volumes and meticulous craftsmanship—in Italy for Kuboraum, and in Italy and France for Thierry Lasry—the two houses offer more than just light-filtering solutions: they redefine facial contours, allowing you to stay ahead of the curve throughout the season.
