Nostalgic and cinematic, two atmospheres that perfectly summarize the work of London-based designers and interior architects Alexy Kos and Che Huang. They recently made a splash in the British capital, in the heart of Mayfair. Their objective? To reimagine a residence for a hotelier and restaurateur, while designing spaces with a festive purpose.

A site that was perceived by the two creatives as a true blank canvas. The inspiration for this project came from Yves Saint Laurent's Grand Salon on rue de Babylone in Paris. We wanted to develop an authentic design language, balancing Art Deco references with 1960s and 1970s modernism. […] The spacious living room is a social space, a place where guests can gather in a warm and relaxed environment. Here, we have brought together a mix of 20th-century collector's furniture, complemented by an eclectic collection of sculptures, family heirlooms, and art books, creating a unique atmosphere. "The spectacular space is equipped on each side with narrow skylights along the entire length of the walls to let daylight into the building."

The designers also structured the space using a series of wooden bookcase walls, subdividing the interior into various zones, including living, dining, and study areas. The focal point of this spacious living room is the large, undulating fireplace located beneath the linear skylight. The gentle curves were sculpted from polished plaster, helping to create a light and ethereal atmosphere. As for the furnishings, the two designers' selections range from delicate Japanese paper to Ingo Maurer lamps perched atop white marble side tables.

Bentwood furniture and leather armchairs by Danish master Kristian Vedel, arranged around the large asymmetrical maple coffee table, designed
by the duo themselves, to perfectly match the warm tone of the iconic Eames screens. A decidedly modern space combining
Good taste and absolute comfort.
