An enclave away from the city, Farasha Farmhouse is much more than a country house. Under the watchful eye of Aire au Carré, it was imagined as a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the medina. A place of reconnection with nature, where minimalist architecture fades into the background before the power of the elements...

A CROSSBRED SIGNATURE
The story of Aire au Carré is above all that of its founding partners Dorothée Ricard and Sylvain Ragueneau. Freshly graduated, they discovered Marrakech in 2006. Attracted by the city's unique blend of modernity and tradition, the duo marveled at its remarkable craftsmanship, ancestral know-how and architectural style, far removed from European codes. Having cut their teeth in various firms, in 2017 they founded their own architecture and interior design agency, attractively named Aire au Carré. Their avowed ambition: to sign mixed-media projects in which Moroccan craftsmanship and know-how are at the service of modern architecture! Much more than a desire for independence, creating their own agency gives them the freedom to design spaces where contemporary and traditional elements coexist harmoniously. True to the spirit of Marrakchi, their projects make the most of local cultural wealth and environmentally-friendly innovation. Or how to imagine living spaces that are as sustainable as they are desirable...

RESPECTING THE SOUL OF THE PLACE
A land of shimmering colors and sweet fragrances, Morocco is one of the cradles of humanity. The bearer of a centuries-old history, its traditional habitat blends with rare ease into its preserved natural environment. And Marrakech is no exception. Known for the splendor of its majestic palaces and lush gardens, this medieval city inherited from the Berber Empire asserts its contemporary audacity at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, halfway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Sahara Desert. Respectful of the privileged setting in which it operates on a daily basis, Aire au Carré is committed to choosing projects that combine comfort and authenticity. Because integrating more contemporary elements can never be done at the expense of the soul of a place! It was with this in mind that the agency undertook the renovation of Farasha Farmhouse, a former artist's residence on the outskirts of town. There's no show of force here, just discreet architecture that lets nature express itself. Nestled in the heart of an olive grove, a veritable domestic forest of 450 trees, and a wild, regenerative garden designed by Marius Boulesteix, the property fades into the background of untamed nature. Aire au Carré has ensured that every material and every detail of the interior architecture is in harmony with this environment. A minimalism that is perfectly suited to the ever-changing spectacle of the exterior as the seasons go by...

PERFECTION IN DETAIL
Metamorphosed into a bright, open-plan space, Farasha Farmhouse abolishes the boundaries between inside and outside. While outside, the Atlas Mountains and the Jbilet Desert stand watch in the background, inside, a delicate décor pays homage to Moroccan craftsmanship. Without ever yielding to the trappings of easy exoticism, owner Rosena Charmoy has imbued the place with her taste for beautiful handmade things. Each room is an intimate conversation between her eye and local know-how. We're not talking about interior design here, but about working with atmospheres, materials and emotions. A multicultural experience that fuses diverse influences. In this way, it recalls the very essence of Aire au Carré's work...
