Off to Porto, Portugal. On a "long and narrow" plot of land, as the architects at Fala Atelier describe it, there was "a spacious warehouse" and "shabby" offices. Two charmless entities that an "intrepid client" wanted to transform into a house. The only potential appeal of this space: a gabled roof supported by heavy wooden beams.
To work their magic, the architects will carry out "a series of cuts across the long perimeter" offered by the site. The two spaces are then separated by an interior courtyard. On one side, small apartments, and on the other, the warehouse, which now houses an imposing living room, adorned with a curved wall. "A proper kitchen and a monumental fireplace are the only indications of an uncertain domestic life."
As for the facade, it displays a grid of black dots, pairs of windows, yellow doors, green shutters and a flat expanse of glass bricks.
