LAM STUDIO OR THE POWER OF MINIMALISM

For its second edition, Offscreen, the event dedicated to image-based arts, has enlisted the services of set designer, designer, and interior architect Léonie Alma Mason, head of LAM Studio. A fruitful collaboration and a good excuse to revisit the designer's career.

Behind the outdated but furiously pop facade of Grand Garage HaussmannThose curious about or passionate about art and images were able to discover the second edition of this beautiful artistic event, which took place alongside the fair. Paris+ par Art Basel (See the article in the ART section). For the scenography of his second work, he opted for a design inspired by the world of museums, rather than a traditional booth. This staging is the work of LAM Studio, founded by Léonie Alma Mason.

A set designer, designer, and interior architect, this young woman, born in Geneva in 1987 to French, Swiss, and German ancestry, and a graduate of the École Camondo in interior architecture and design, practices her talents at the helm of LOMM Editions (co-founded with her grandmother, Odile Mir), as well as within her agency, LA.M Studio. In 2014, she established her agency in the French capital to develop unique projects, both small and large-scale, for the public and private sectors.

He is notably responsible for the splendid Maslina Resort in Croatia. Located on Hvar, an island in the Adriatic Sea, this five-star hotel welcomes guests into an atmosphere that is both raw and sophisticated, right from the entrance hall with its cracked stone, enameled lava stone and bronze tables, and Italian alabaster chandeliers. These materials are complemented by terracotta light fixtures by Hand & Eye Studio, Charlotte Juillard daybeds, and a bamboo canopy by Déambulons. Bamboo is also a recurring material in the hotel's spa, where it forms a canopy that filters the sunlight.

For her Parisian installation at 43 rue de Laborde, there was no question of confining exhibitors and artworks to a single space: the pieces converse with one another amidst the omnipresent concrete and are to be discovered along the ascending ramp of the garage. Bold yet minimalist, Léonie Alma Mason's artistic gesture placed light at the heart of the project. Evoking both sunlight and fire, it is expressed through shades of red, orange, and pink. These tones are echoed in the seating created specifically for the event by Léonie Alma Mason, upholstered in fabrics from the archives of Pierre Frey, the architect's partner for Offscreen. A raw yet delicate and elegant staging.
