OCEANUS HOUSE A LUMINOUS RENEWAL

The architecture firm Good Project Company, founded by Pierre De Angelis in Los Angeles, is reinventing this superb modernist and minimalist villa perched atop the Hollywood Hills district of Mount Olympus.

The Oceanus House was built in 1975 and then renovated and expanded in 1992 by Donald Luckenbill, principal architect in the firm of renowned architect Paul Rudolph. The scope of the new improvements focused on emphasizing horizontality to better extend the living spaces between indoors and outdoors. White walls, oak floors, high ceilings, a spiral staircase, and smart technology now define the Oceanus House. Spanning nearly 700 square meters over two levels, it features four bedrooms and six bathrooms. The spacious living room, with its built-in black steel fireplace and custom oak bookcase, boasts a sumptuous mid-century modern leather banquette. Nearby, the dining room and adjacent kitchen embrace the sun-drenched space, thanks to large windows that open onto a terrace complete with a swimming pool and al fresco dining area. Pierre De Angelis's renovations also focused on widening the existing façade, composed of overlapping cornices and soffits to further emphasize the linearity of the spaces. This modern renaissance preserves the building's intimacy, with views redirected towards the Pacific Ocean and the city center.
