Nigerian architect-designer Tosin Oshinowo, founder of cmDesign Atelier (cmD+A), continues her exploration of modernist, minimalist and responsible architecture with the Coral Pavillion, set in the Lagos lagoons. The special feature of this design is its location on a peninsula accessible only by boat from the Nigerian city. The pavilion thus gives the impression of being lost on a desert island, but remains within metropolitan limits, serving as a relaxation area for day trips. The indoor-outdoor building takes account of the equatorial climate: it plays on the shadow lines created by the sun, protects against rain with its cantilevered roof and lets in a refreshing breeze. Colors are also important, with the whiteness of the structure, the coral pink of the floor, the turquoise blue of the pool and the olive green of the furniture reminiscent of lush nature. An idyllic palm-fringed space, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
