Talented architect Sophie Dries, from France, has opened her first specialty coffee shop in Paris's 7th arrondissement, the Quartz Café.
Quartz Café is first and foremost a place that reflects Sophie Dries' passion for rock and minerals. This fascination is evident in many of her creations, such as pyrite andirons, a selenite fragrance diffuser, and gypsum candle holders. This passion is also expressed in this new establishment through the chosen coffee-making technique, which uses dolomite made from quartz to remineralize purified water.

Beyond the technical aspects of crafting this precious beverage, the alliteration of the rock is also felt in the aesthetics of the space, notably through its Corten steel flooring and the curtains featuring a tie-dye effect using bleach. Furthermore, admirers of his work will be delighted to discover the bar counter, inspired by his Octa bar for the Mobilier National, presented at the “Salon Les Nouveaux Ensembliers” exhibition in 2025, or the Styx mirror, which has been given a makeover with passementerie elements. For metal is another material highlighted in this project.

It can be found in polished stainless steel, bronze welds, and also on spoons, milk jugs, and trays, as well as on accessories in silver and Baccarat crystal. In short, as you will have understood, meeting at the Quartz Café is not just another coffee shop, but a haven designed for aesthetes.
