Studioparisien: understated sophistication

Laurene B. Tardrew and Romain Jourdan rely on beautiful materials and artistic crafts to enhance spaces and sculpt their furniture.

Ten years ago, they joined forces to found their interior design and architecture agency, Studioparisien. Their adventure began with bespoke space planning for major luxury brands. Their credo? To showcase French craftsmanship, from set design to furniture. They play with the textures of fine materials, favor clean lines and curves, and present their soft forms in a harmonious palette, illuminated by sculptural light fixtures. Cartier, one of their first clients, commissioned them for its historic address at 13 rue de la Paix in Paris, as well as for its new PC Hoofstrat boutique in Amsterdam. For the "13P" location, three of the five floors were entrusted to the duo, who designed spaces with distinct functions, infusing a contemporary touch into the brand's elegant codes.

For the ambitious project in the Netherlands, the designers called upon local Dutch talent to create a total work of art: ceramics for the facade, columns evoking Amsterdam bricks, colorful paneling referencing the De Stijl art movement, parquet flooring with a pattern inspired by Vermeer, the texture of a coved ceiling reminiscent of Van Gogh's palette knife painting… By summoning icons, they created an atmosphere that tells stories.

Studioparisien's journey doesn't stop there; the designers have moved into furniture creation, collaborating with publishers and manufacturers such as Philippe Hurel, Maison Charles, and Ateliers Jouffre. They continue to develop their collection, which is enjoying increasing success. From the "Sévigné" armchair and chaise longue to the "Luco" table inspired by the flowerbeds of the Luxembourg Gardens, and including the "A" ottoman, they playfully reinterpret classic designs, relying on the excellence of materials and craftsmanship. This approach earned them a place among the top 100 designers recognized by AD magazine in 2023.
