A minimalist boutique hotel in China

The Sumei Skyline Coast, located in Sanya on the tropical island of Hainan, celebrates beauty and relaxation through a play of perfect proportions. Shenzhen-based firm GS Design conceived a minimalist retreat, clad in white and blue, a nod to the ocean and its waves. The building's facade plays with undulation, featuring rounded windows and balconies. The interiors continue this movement, offering fluid circulation thanks to clean arches and geometric elements. Azure skies, sea, beach, palm trees, sunrises and sunsets… the picture-postcard landscape superbly complements the spaces, from the bar to the restaurant, from the infinity pool to the rooftop terrace, from the lounge to the bedrooms, inviting guests to lose themselves in the distant horizon. The interplay of light and shadow further enhances the poetic nature of this 3,200-square-meter spatial structure. Photographs, in fact, lend it an almost ethereal quality. GS Design excels in exploring and expressing minimalist art, transforming the hotel into showcases of scenes suspended in time, both simple and sophisticated.
