In his works, Shiota creates deep connections between art, memory and emotion, offering a unique multi-sensory experience. The Soul Trembles" exhibition, on view until March 19, 2025, plunges visitors into an artistic universe where wool yarns, symbolism and introspection meet.

Known for her vast networks of red and black threads, Shiota uses these simple materials to explore themes such as identity, collective memory and the passage of time. Her installations transform space into labyrinths, inviting visitors to circulate through immersive canvases where mystery and serenity mingle. Both visually powerful and emotionally charged, these works tackle universal subjects such as loss, human ties and belonging.

Among the key works in the exhibition is The Key in the Hand, a landmark work presented at the 2015 Venice Biennale. Thousands of keys suspended in intricate interweavings of red thread symbolize shared memories and handed-down legacies. Another creation, Connected to Life, offers a moving reflection on the fragility of human lives, with everyday objects seemingly floating in a dense tangle of wires, lending them an almost sacred aura.

Chiharu Shiota's artistic approach fits perfectly with the mission of the Grand Palais Immersif, which offers engaging exhibitions where visitors become actors in the experience. More than a retrospective, this exhibition is an invitation to explore memories, feel deep emotions and lose oneself in the threads that connect invisible but universal stories.
