Jing Hong: A Dream Floating Between Art and Architecture

Red swirls in the air, catching the eye and awakening the spirit. Wei Zhang's monumental installation, Jing Hong, transforms space into an aerial ballet. A blend of architecture, movement and Chinese aesthetics, this immersive work is a fusion of tradition and modernity. Presented at the China Oil Painting Academy in Beijing, it invites us to an experience where art becomes poetry.

A tribute to myths and wind calligraphy

Inspired by Cao Zhi'sOde to the Luo Goddess, Jing Hong celebrates femininity and fluidity. The structure evokes a suspended dream, where scarlet silk dances in an artificial wind. Each undulation traces in space a moving calligraphy, light and elusive.

Unrestricted architecture, the poetry of space

At 100 metres long and 6 metres high, Jing Hong defies the laws of gravity. With no visible columns or anchor points, it rests on a technical feat: a hand-welded iron skeleton, designed after a life-size model. The matte, translucent textile captures natural light, transforming every glance into a new perception.

A sensory and emotional journey

This installation isn't just something to contemplate: it's something to experience. Visitors can walk inside the volutes, feel the sensation of suspended flight, or use the space for fashion shoots or events.

With each step, the perspective changes. The light of the setting sun reflects off the silk, tinting the space a blazing orange. The experience becomes intimate, almost meditative.

A dialogue between tradition and modernity

The installation fits into a surprising space: a gallery inspired by Western Gothic architecture, capable of accommodating 200 people. The contrast between architectural rigidity and textile fluidity creates a unique alchemy. Here, millennia-old Chinese art meets a European structure, giving rise to a captivating visual dialogue.

Jing Hong is not just a work of art, it's an invitation to travel. It reminds us that art, far beyond the object, is a living experience, a space where movement and imagination dance together.
