Parthenope is a beautiful young woman endowed with intelligence, empathy, and an open mind. Anna Maria Sambuco embodies this mysterious character in Paolo Sorrentino's film. Parthenope is a film that unites drama and romance, love and pain, around a heroine whom we see growing up and maturing in the heart of Southern Italy. We have the feeling of closely following the carefree nature of her youth, the melancholy of an uncomprehended loneliness, the tragedy of a one-sided love. Parthenope It explores the disillusioned life of an "anthropology enthusiast." The film paints an ordinary portrait of a young Italian woman touched by the small idiosyncrasies of the people she meets. The shots are unique and meticulously crafted to enhance Saint Laurent's elegant, colorful, and ostentatious aesthetic.

A moving drama about recognition and death, The FenceDirected by Claire Denis, the film boasts a powerful cast: Isaach De Bankolé, Matt Dillon, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Tom Blyth. It tackles a subject that can be described as political—the end of colonialism and the tragic lives of African laborers. In the middle of a construction site, hidden in the darkness of night, a Black worker stands motionless, crouching on the ground, awaiting the body of his brother, who died on the site. The four characters have stereotypical appearances, reflecting the relationship between African workers and Western contractors. The theme of colonialism in West Africa challenges the propriety of this culture imposed upon these countries.

The Shrouds, May 2024

Vincent Cassel and Diane Kruger in The Shrouds – Saint Laurent Productions ©Saint Laurent Productions

In this film directed by David Cronenberg, Vincent Cassel plays a grieving businessman who hasn't lost his passion for his wife. The entrepreneur develops a technology called GraveTech, designed to allow the living to watch over their deceased loved ones in their shrouds. One night, his wife's grave is desecrated. He then embarks on a quest to find the culprits. Fascinating. The shrouds It contrasts death and life, science and metaphysics, with an intriguing yet moving synopsis. The homage to love is illustrated here through a spy film steeped in intrigue and paranoia. A film that puts the limits of humanity into perspective, between vanity and sorrow, and that shows how dependence and love clash with the reality of boundless whims.

By bringing together these unique works, Saint Laurent Productions, under the direction of Anthony Vaccarello, affirms a cinematic vision that is as bold as it is coherent. Each film explores a different universe, possessing its own rhythms and sensibilities. All extend the aesthetics and obsessions of the House: the beauty of complex beings, the strength of human passions, and the depth of journeys both internal and external.
