Nestled in the heart of the vine-covered hillsides of Champagne, the enchanting landscape surrounding the Mutigny Resort Hotel speaks for itself. In Mutigny, in the Champagne region, the new 4-star spa hotel designed by the Jouin Manku studio only opened in the summer of 2022, but it is already a destination that deserves to be discovered as soon as possible. A 120-seat bistro-style restaurant , a 1,000 m² spa including two saunas, a 29°C heated pool, a hammam, and treatment rooms, as well as wine and, of course, champagne tastings with a catalog of 4,000 references: the architecture studio's vision was to make this establishment a " prime destination for exploring all facets of a symbol of the French art of living. "
The building aims to be as unrefined as champagne; planted in chalk and clay soil, it sits on the edge of the Montagne de Reims National Park on a promontory 240 meters above sea level. Architect Sanjit Manku describes the project as " a mix of effervescence and simple pleasures ." The structure is raised on mineral concrete foundations and clad in wood. It is light and transparent like a bubble. The building is divided into two blocks, creating different perspectives. Nature surrounds the 101 rooms of the spa hotel. The first floor, designed around a central fireplace, features an airy sculpture of perforated metal that rises like evanescent bubbles along the monumental staircase. The champagne theme is thus well maintained. The guest rooms are located in the second part of the building, offering breathtaking views of the edge of the woods and the forest. The hotel's roof is made of concrete and planted with vegetation . Clad in wood, it blends seamlessly into the surrounding vegetation, as if it were an architectural extension of it. The interior design of the establishment is both natural and elegant. This building is entirely dedicated to the beauty and diversity of the Champagne terroir, offering a different approach from traditional Champagne tasting venues. Loisium provides Champagne tastings right in the heart of the vineyards where it is produced. A meeting place where local producers can connect with their visitors.
