RED KATZ, DISCOVERING AN UNEXPECTED CHINA!

Behind the vermilion red storefront at 14, rue de Cléry, in the 2nde Hidden away in a district of the capital is the majestic Chinese restaurant Red Katz. A look inside this highly desirable address…

The fusion of two cultures with strong personalities

An exceptional living space in the heart of the Sentier district, Red Katz is the brainchild of three young Franco-Chinese friends: Claire Huang, Hélène Ding, and Hélène Huang. Born in Paris, these young women have always maintained strong ties with China. Daughters of Chinese restaurateurs, they grew up with a taste for fusion cuisine, enriched by these diverse influences. In love with both the electrifying energy of urban dining and the natural elegance of fine Parisian establishments, the three friends envisioned Red Katz as an eclectic, festive, and intimate space. A resounding success!

A restaurant opulent in its design…

Spanning over 300 square meters, Red Katz boasts a retro-chic design, the signature of interior architect and designer Louis Aspar. At the helm of Studio Louis Morgan, this creative designer meticulously considered every detail, ensuring his architectural narrative perfectly complemented Red Katz's culinary journey. Fabrics, tapestries, fine woods, marble, mirrors: he has crafted a glamorous setting with a powerful identity that transports visitors to 1930s Hong Kong. A far cry from urban eateries and minimalist bistros, Red Katz embraces opulence, a thinly veiled homage to the luxurious and scandalous salons of the Roaring Twenties. A veritable cinematic set reminiscent of a New York speakeasy, it evokes the vibrant energy of Parisian nights!

…and authentic in its dishes

At Red Katz, the sensory journey continues right onto the plate. People come here to savor traditional Chinese cuisine in its purest form, enlivened by the Western and contemporary vision of the owners. Cultivating the authenticity cherished by Chinese families, Claire Huang, Hélène Ding, and Hélène Huang have selected specialties from various regions of China, such as the famous hand-shaped dim sum. The star of the menu is the Peking duck, with its expertly lacquered finish and red vinegar broth, which is carefully prepared for two days before being oven-roasted. The result? Crispy skin and incredibly tender meat! We also love the shrimp toasts. Made with two slices of toasted and then fried bread, these snacks are topped with sliced shrimp and ginger. Pure indulgence!
