CIVILIAN, THE SHOW MUST GO ON

In the heart of Hell's Kitchen, this hotel, one of the most exciting of Manhattan's newest openings, draws its inspiration from the teeming creative energy of New York and its neighborhood, that of the musical.

Staying at the CIVILIAN means joining the community of artists, musicians and actors. The board announcing the evening shows, the bar alcoves, the four-poster beds, the velvet sofas... throughout the 27 floors of the glass tower and the 203 rooms with a view, the entire scenography signed by architect David Rockwell evokes the world of show business.

More than 350 works of art and unique pieces, photos, sketches, miniature sets from Company or Moulin Rouge, shimmering costumes, props and scores, tell the story of a century of Broadway cultural and musical history. The hotel itself has set up an ambitious artistic program, led by theater and photo professionals.

Its rooftop bar, offering an impressive panorama of Manhattan, also contributes to its burgeoning legend. The idea of converting what was previously a parking lot came from Jason Pomeranc, an American well known in thehospitality world. He founded Thompson Hotels in the 1980s, and more recently, in 2014, the SIXTY Hotels brand, which includes two addresses with sophisticated, provocative design and an arty lifestyle concept: SIXTY LES (Lower East Side) in New York and SIXTY Beverly Hills in Los Angeles.

A hotel-gallery that immerses you in the musical effervescence of art, design and music in the heart of New York.
