The Compagnie Saint Germain: a renaissance in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés

It's an address well-known to wine lovers: nestled on rue Lobineau, a stone's throw from the Saint-Germain market, the former Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels has reinvented itself as La Compagnie Saint Germain. Created by the Experimental Group, this iconic establishment for Parisian epicureans has undergone a complete renovation over the summer, reopening at the end of August with a totally redesigned interior.

At the helm of this transformation is Dorothée Meilichzon, the group's designer, who also designed the Hôtel des Grands Boulevards in Paris and the Palazzo Experimental in Venice. True to her distinctive style, she has imbued the space with a chic yet intimate atmosphere, inspired by the New York identity of La Compagnie Wine Bar – Flatiron. Orange zebra-striped banquettes, graphic armchairs, and a wooden bar create a refined setting where soft lighting enhances the intimate feel of the venue.

But beyond the décor, it's the wine list that truly confirms the reputation of this establishment for those in the know. Curated by a team of sommeliers, it boasts 800 selections from both small, exclusive producers and renowned houses. Champagne, grand cru wines, and hidden gems unearthed from around the world are served by the glass, carafe, or bottle. To complement these wines, the bar offers gourmet platters: fine charcuterie, regional cheeses, truffle croque-monsieur, fennel sausage, candied vegetables, or creamy burrata.

Since its opening in 2011, the Company has established itself as a friendly place where the spirit remains unchanged: a relaxed but expert philosophy of wine, sharp but accessible selections, and a team keen to pass on its knowledge.
