The term "electric blue" appeared in the 19th century.^e century, era when scientists Edmond Becquerel and Edward Davy noted the appearance of a blue glow caused by electrical discharges, thus associating this colour with electricity and modernity.

Far from being a muted, discreet, or even soporific blue, electric blue brightens objects and spaces. In China, its jade-like hue lends it a symbolic dimension of wisdom. In an apartment designed by Furora Studio, electric blue takes center stage as the room's dominant color, covering, for example, the entire kitchen. When it's not the kitchen, it's the sofa that gets the blue treatment, like the one in the apartment decorated by Sarah Trotter of Hearth Studio with the help of architect Murray Barker.
