The unusual offices of Lynk & Co

Boldness and exuberance invite themselves to the headquarters of the young mobility brand, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. Founded in 2016, Lynk & Co aims to be the enfant terrible of the automotive sector, offering monthly subscriptions that allow customers to drive a car with less commitment.

Interior design follows the same path, like its showrooms in Barcelona and Amsterdam, keeping employees close to the customer experience. The parent company makes room for art, bright colors, eclectic styles and space, in line with its 01 model, presented at the rear, under the glare of LED spotlights.

The result is the work of Swedish firm New Order Arkitektur, co-designing with Lynk & Co. The offices are a creative mix of raw, elaborate and original elements to "inspire employees to be inspired and creative", in the words of its former CEO, Alain Visser. The aim is not only to "shake up the automotive industry", but also to "live and work in a non-conformist way".

With the mantra "Urban traces", everything bears the stigma of the design process. Sloppy concrete floors, Yayoi Kusama-style polka-dot sofas and walls, giant smiley faces, graphic patterns and fabrics, reused furniture, sketches and doodles left by craftsmen on the new walls, all occupy the 3,500 square-meter surface.

Swedish artist Daniel Götesson, a.k.a. EKTA, is also involved in this social redefinition of workspaces, as daring as it is counter-current, to define the brand's "rebel" DNA.
