The Franco-Italian designer and interior architect is exhibiting his new collection, "Brazil," at the Kolkhoze gallery in Paris, a series of sculptural furniture imbued with modernism.
At the helm of his eponymous studio and his publishing house Youth Éditions for the past seven years, Joris Poggioli continues to shape his sculptural universe. The designer and interior architect, who attended business school and had a brief three-year career as a professional rugby player, has successfully fused the richness of his Franco-Italian heritage. His collections embody an introspective quest between past and present, where minimalism and timelessness, elegance and sophistication, subtlety and eccentricity intertwine. After exploring American modernism of the 1930s (the "Totem" series) and the iconography and history of the maharajas (Indian palaces), he now ventures into the realm of Brazilian modernism.

CONTEMPORARY REINTERPRETATION
His fifth collection pays homage to Oscar Niemeyer, Lina Bo Bardi, and Paulo Mendes da Rocha, leading figures of the movement that transformed architecture and design in the 20th century. "Brazil" is a series of sculptural pieces imbued with sensuality and refinement. It includes a chaise longue, a sofa, a bed, a coffee table, armchairs, chairs, and lamps. Joris Poggioli reinterprets modernist concrete "as a raw material" to which "a touch of poetry" is added. The idea for this collection arose from a "deep and insightful" conversation with his gallerist, Thibaut Van den Bergh of Kolkhoze in Paris, who has represented him since the beginning.

RADICAL, SENSITIVE AND ARCHITECTURAL
The pieces play beautifully with shapes and materials, organic lines and generous volumes. Like his previous collections, "Brazil" is also presented as "an ode to the female body and the softness of its curves," evoking both nature and sensuality. This sculptor of innovative forms adds a touch of bossa nova to his influences, where proportions vie with rhythms and movements, "like the chords of a melody." The exhibition at the Kolkhoze Gallery showcases two versions of the designs: the first in Rio rosewood, coated with a 100% glossy lacquer; the second in brushed stainless steel, for a bolder reinterpretation, both traditional and modern.
