VICTORIA WILMOTTE THE INNOVATIVE MANUFACTURING DESIGNER

Victoria Wilmotte presents her new "Concav" collection, featuring furniture and an XL mirror, at the opening of her first Parisian space on rue Madame, in the 6th arrondissement.

Jean-Pierre Vaillancourt

For more than fifteen years, the French designer has been building a singular and heterogeneous universe. The daughter of architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and a graduate of the Camondo school and the Royal College of Art in design, under the tutelage of Ron Arad, she will celebrate her fortieth birthday in 2025, and her creations are truly innovative, aesthetic and even slightly futuristic.

Victoria Wilmotte continues to enjoy experimenting, transforming, welding, bending, sawing, cutting, painting and refining. Mineral and steel are among her favorite materials, while materials, mechanistic forms and industrial and artisanal production processes remain her favorite playground.

Since then, she has taken on numerous commissions for private individuals and designed collections for brands and publishers (ClassiCon, Haviland, Daum, Theoreme Editions...). In the meantime, she has launched her hybrid studio, VW Factory, part showroom, part fabrication workshop, to create prototypes and self-published pieces.

CONCAV", A NEW ARTISTIC SENSIBILITY

Today, this creator and manufacturer at heart is anchoring her expertise by inaugurating her first Parisian space at 38, rue Madame, in the 6th arrondissement. For the occasion, she presents her new collection, "Concav", composed of furniture pieces and an XL mirror. With its trademark play on materials, colors and symmetry, this range of everyday objects pays homage to the sphere.

The roundness of each model is a welcome addition. The stool, mirror and nesting tables are cut, assembled, hand-painted and manufactured in powder-coated steel. The same goes for the glass, with its citrus-colored laminated finish. A lovely self-published work, still manufactured in his factory at 30, quai des Célestins in the 4th arrondissement.

" My personal collections are based on a colorful, more industrial language ," she emphasizes. And it's hardly surprising to see her straight lines, sharp angles, contrasting hues and interplay of solids and voids. In this way, Victoria Wilmotte continues to offer a personal and meticulous vision that constantly renews the ambience of the domestic universe.
