From September 11 to 14, 2025, a new event is set to reshape Berlin's art scene. Located in the heart of Charlottenburg, in the Kant-Garagenpalast, whose modernist architecture embodies the spirit of the 1930s, RE:FAIR Berlin inaugurates its first edition with a celebration of contemporary photography.
The project is the brainchild of two independent figures on the cultural scene: Zoé Agnoly, a curator at the crossroads of contemporary art, events and art direction, and Elisa Hallé, an independent curator specializing in photography. "RE:FAIR was born of my desire to fill a glaring gap in Berlin: that of a large-scale platform dedicated exclusively to contemporary photography", confides Zoé Agnoly. Together, they imagined a space for dialogue between galleries, artists, institutions, publishers and collectors.

A fair for the eye
RE:FAIR asserts its artistic and conceptual autonomy. Far from traditional formats, it offers "a real photographic hub in Berlin, where professionals can meet, build, think and collaborate". The curatorial experience takes precedence, in the service of a critical and committed gaze.
Galleries are invited to defend a strong line, as well as a coherent vision in line with RE:FAIR's values. "We are looking for proposals capable of telling a visual story that questions our times", they state. The artists presented must mobilize photography as a genuine tool for questioning, whether documentary, conceptual, narrative or generative.
" The link between content and form is essential."

A scene in transformation: rethinking formats
RE:FAIR takes place at a pivotal moment, when contemporary photography is traversed by the rise of artificial intelligence. In this changing context, RE:FAIR becomes a critical space where theoretical reflection, innovative scenography and committed curation are articulated. Born of a strong conviction, this new fair intends to anticipate the changes to come, presenting new photographic practices while honoring its heritage. Its program, including talks, conferences and bookstores, reinforces this approach by accompanying visitors.
" The emergence of new technologies, such as AI, is profoundly questioning the forms and limits of the image," observes Zoé Agnoly. In response, RE:FAIR proposes a vision that is both sensitive and poetic, capable of embracing modernity and traditionalism.

An invitation to community
RE:FAIR is rooted in a network of international partners and enjoys high media visibility. Thanks to a strategic partnership with Soho House Berlin and its strong presence in the local art scene, the event offers galleries genuine leverage for exposure. Access to the VIP program, meetings with collectors, institutional synergies: everything is designed to encourage lasting exchanges. "We're building bridges between the different players in the sector," confides Agnoly.

A call to galleries
Applications are now open. The RE:FAIR team invites galleries to present a clear, embodied proposal, aligned with a strong curatorial line. "We're looking for a balanced representation and a sensitive approach to this art form. What we expect is a singular look at today's photography", say the creators of RE:FAIR Berlin.
RE:FAIR Berlin is aimed at galleries that promote conscious, critical and poetic photography. Galleries that believe that the image remains, today more than ever.
