In the fall of 2023, Clichy's culinary scene was enriched by a new and now essential address: Café César. Under the direction of Charles Boixel, this restaurant brilliantly blends the rigor of bistronomic cuisine with the generosity of gourmet flavors.
With his seventeen years of experience alongside prestigious Michelin-starred chefs – Joël Robuchon and Pierre Gagnaire, to name just a couple – the chef offers a cuisine that is both elaborate and accessible, opening his doors from breakfast to dinner to offer us a continuous culinary experience.



Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Baptiste, the restaurant manager, who seated us at a table from which we could admire the bar displaying the bottles behind a glass panel, as well as the colors chosen for the wall next to a large mirror.
To start, I decided to escape to sunny Brazil with a cachaça caipirinha while I chose my starter. It would be lamb croquettes, tagine-style, with mint yogurt and preserved lemon. A colorful dish whose aromas wafted from the plate, practically begging to be tasted. A true surprise! The flavors blended perfectly, with none overpowering the others.
Next, we witnessed a ritual that was a first for me: choosing the knife for the main course, poultry, the restaurant's specialty. This gave us a chance to chat with the waitress, who was always attentive and smiling.
When the chicken supreme with asparagus and morels in Vin Jaune sauce, served with mashed potatoes, arrives, I pair it with a glass of Rully "Les Plantenays" white wine. The chicken, cooked to perfection, melts in your mouth and falls apart easily, and I recognize the magical mashed potatoes as a Robuchon creation. A dish prepared with love, using only local ingredients, resulting in a dish so delicious that I devour even the sauce that accompanies the meat.
To end this delightful experience on a sweet note, I opted for a lemon meringue tart, a choice I didn't regret at all, as the melt-in-your-mouth meringue perfectly enveloped and harmonized with the lemon cream. A truly timeless moment that I didn't want to end.
Café César offers light and flavorful cuisine where hospitality and shared happiness reign supreme. The moment we step inside, we forget the journey there, and by the end of the meal, one thing is certain: we would return without hesitation.
