Restaurant Ilô

AN "ILÔ" OF DISCOVERIES

We discovered them at Sola (one Michelin star, 5rd), and so the three friends, each with their own specialties, joined forces to the great delight of our taste buds.

No extravagance the decor (exposed stone, dark wood tables) could perhaps use a little twistBut the clever and surprising blends of Japanese and French flavors excite us to the point that we let ourselves be guided towards the sakes, a great specialty of the house and especially of the sommelier and president Yuki Onuma.

We are observing the young Japanese chef Seiya Kumabe busy in her small kitchen. The Chinese cabbage, tapenade, and button mushroom soup captivates us with the perfect balance of flavors, a delicious clash between Japanese tastes and the creamy soups of our beloved French cuisine.aburi The mackerel (seared with a blowtorch), radish and figs are subtle and very fresh.

And what about caramelized pork in soy sauce and its warm lettuce arranged on the side, a reassuringly successful dish…

The originality extends right up to dessert with parmesan ice cream and another one with sweet potato, kumquat and black sugar crumble… a nostalgic delight created by pastry chef Sumire Onuma.

If you happen to be on Rue Castex near the Saint-Paul district, don't hesitate to venture into this restaurant. Your taste buds will remember it.The welcome is a reflection of what is served there: full of originality and conviviality.
