Jacquemus presents "The Peasant": a poetic and elegant tribute to the land

For his latest show, Simon Porte Jacquemus chose an exceptional setting: the Orangerie at the Palace of Versailles. A magnificent venue to host "Le Paysan," his Spring/Summer 2026 collection, which tells a story of childhood, the countryside, and the passing down of traditions, while remaining resolutely modern.

The Orangerie is more than just a stone setting: it's a living horticultural space, populated by centuries-old orange trees. This choice is not insignificant: it resonates perfectly with the theme of the peasant, the one who works the land and lives at its pace. Jacquemus doesn't romanticize the Versailles nobility; he infuses it with his own childhood memories, like the little boy opening the monumental gates to launch the fashion show, a mirror image of Simon pursuing his dreams.

The "Le Paysan" collection is distinguished by the purity of its tones; almost everything is immaculate, a brilliant white or a light ecru. The materials are noble and simple: poplin, linen, heavy cotton, Italian leather. The silhouettes draw inspiration from workwear—voluminous aprons, loose shirts, gathered blouses, petticoats—but transcend them through refined draping and impeccable tailoring.

The dresses evoke antique sheets and linens, with delicate embroidery, conveying a sense of innocence and authenticity. True to his meticulous approach, Jacquemus has given each dress a name, recalling the Couture tradition. Nothing is left to chance: everything is designed to exude understated elegance.

The show was distinguished by its focus on movement: light fabrics floated in the wind, volumes unfolded as the models walked, and the scenography took advantage of the grand perspectives of the Orangerie to offer true living tableaux.

Beyond the clothes, this show confirms the brand's maturity. Jacquemus is meticulously crafting its materials, its leathers now made in Italy, while continuing its international expansion with new boutiques, notably in Miami. Not to mention the beauty division, developed in partnership with L'Oréal. But despite this growth, Simon Porte Jacquemus hasn't abandoned his dreams: this show is proof of that. He continues to elevate his vision while remaining true to himself: a son of Provence who wants to share this simple and genuine pleasure with the world.
