“Tailored for You”: when a suit becomes a statement of identity
The 2025 Met Gala, held on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, celebrated the theme "Tailored for You," echoing the Costume Institute's exhibition "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." This dress code invited guests to reinterpret the tailored suit, not only as a fashion item, but as a vehicle for personal and cultural expression.
The exhibition highlights "Black dandyism," a movement in which fashion, particularly tailoring, is used as a means of self-affirmation and resistance to social norms. Guests were encouraged to present outfits that reflected their identity, history, and creativity, while paying tribute to the art of costume.
Looks that redefine made-to-measure
The evening featured bold interpretations of the theme. Classic silhouettes were revisited with innovative cuts, unexpected fabrics and expressive accessories. Guests explored the boundary between tradition and modernity, offering a palette of styles ranging from pared-down minimalism to theatrical exuberance.

Rihanna: a couture pregnancy announcement
One of the highlights of the evening was Rihanna's appearance. Arriving at the end of the evening, the singer revealed her third pregnancy in an outfit by Marc Jacobs, featuring a striped black wool ensemble, cropped jacket, corset and matching skirt, complemented by a wide-brimmed hat designed in collaboration with Stephen Jones.
The appearance was hailed as a perfect illustration of the theme, blending bespoke elegance with personal expression. True to her habit of making striking announcements at major events, Rihanna once again used fashion as a powerful means of communication.
