WHEN THE NIGHT IS CLAD IN LIGHT

A 1990s icon brought back into fashion, the slip dress is the star piece of the Fall/Winter 2025-2026 season. From the catwalks of Miu Miu to the streets with Irina Shayk, this satin dress, once a symbol of intimacy, has become the embodiment of free and modern femininity, to be worn without moderation, day or night.

The slip dress has never been so captivating. Once synonymous with intimacy, it is now the prerogative of the modern, free, and confident woman. At the YSL Women's Winter 25 show, Anthony Vaccarello delivered a striking interpretation of this cult piece, enhanced by a spellbinding soundtrack by SebastiAn. The designer captured the spirit of the moment before it even took hold, accurately translating the need for fluid elegance and restrained sensuality that runs through current fashion.

On the catwalks, the slip dress has risen to the rank of absolute object of desire. Fabrics glide over the skin, cuts reveal without ever exposing, striking a subtle balance between boldness and restraint. Vaccarello has mastered the art of suggestion: under his gaze, lingerie becomes a style statement, softness becomes strength, femininity is worn like light armor.

Off the catwalk, Irina Shayk perfectly embodies this new look. Spotted on the streets of New York in a flowing satin-effect dress by Mango, the supermodel confidently styles it with white square-heeled boots, an oversized bomber jacket, and a minimalist tote bag. The contrast between sophistication and casualness is perfect.

From Kate Moss to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the lingerie dress has never ceased to inspire. Created in the 1950s by Nancy Mecher, adopted by pin-up girls, revisited by the icons of the 1990s, it is now back in a refined and powerful form.

At Saint Laurent, she no longer simply dresses the body: she expresses an attitude, an energy, an intuition of what fashion and women want to be now. The slip dress does not follow the trend, it naturally precedes it.
