SARAH DOYLE OU LA VIE EN ROSE

The Irish photographer is back with a beautiful series, featuring model Emma Rose with her flamboyant hair, and playing as much as ever with color, shapes, movement and light.

There's a lovely poetry to Sarah Doyle's work. Here, the Dublin-based virtuoso sublimates model Emma Rose, with whom she is already working on an ongoing series of collaborative portraits. As her inventive, graphic and colorful portfolio shows, Sarah Doyle's new Life in Pink series uses warm hues, blurred effects, contrasts and formal geometry. These elements have "always inspired her", as she herself recalls. Here, the motifs "the circle (the continuous loop) and the heart (the center and core)" stand side by side, representing "what is necessary and significant" in her creative process.

The series was inspired by a quote she read in an interview with the late choreographer Pina Bausch (1940-2009): "Repetition is not repetition - the same action makes you feel something completely different in the end." And that's how Sarah Doyle feels. "There's something about that quote that seems very true to my experience as a portrait photographer - you repeat an action, but you come out very different from where you started. That's the most fascinating part of the job."

BLUE, PINK, RED

The photographs captivate the eye with their visual harmony and uncluttered decor. Here, Emma Rose's flamboyant hair, milky face and azure eyes capture our full attention. Sarah Doyle's work is always sensual and timeless, playful and feminine, challenging our relationship with everyday life and objects. Witness the large heart-shaped balloon that plays with the reflection of the model's face, or the retro babies that become stars in the spotlight.
An approach that takes on a Warholian air about the female experience, elusive beauty and its tireless quest, in this idea of repeating the subject. Sarah Doyle explores all possible interactions in a world where imagination summons dream and reality, surrealism and onirism, past and present, nostalgia and modernity. Her playful use of props and composition, her sense of detail and her management of light and color invite us to reflect constantly on the image we are looking at, weaving other narratives.
