Tomo Koizumi, whose real name Tomotoka Koizumi is a Japanese designer with a colorful and voluminous style. Based in Tokyo, he discovered fashion at the age of 14 with the Christian Dior couture collection designed by John Galliano in 2004. Over the years, he has developed his style as a vibrant tribute to Japanese culture.
In 2011, the young designer launched his brand in Tokyo. A few years later, thanks to journalist and stylist Katie Grand, he organized his first show at New York Fashion Week, in Marc Jacobs' boutique, in 2019. The show was acclaimed and propelled Tomo Koizumi into the spotlight. The following year, he was a finalist for the LVMH Prize. Subsequently, he collaborated extensively with brands such as Pucci and Sacai, and even participated in the Albert Elbaz tribute show in Paris.

During the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympic Games in July 2021, he honored the singer Misia with a voluminous white dress with pastel colors in gradients at the bottom, creating a moment of poetry that would go around the world in a few seconds.
This year, Tomo Koizumi had the privilege of being supported by the Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana, who invited him to Milan for his first show abroad since the pandemic. This logistical and creative support allowed the designer access to the Milanese luxury brand's archives. There, he found printed silks and corsets made from recycled multicolored ribbons. To these repurposed items, Koizumi added ruffled sleeves formed from multiple layers of rainbow fabrics. He also envisioned long tulle trains and puffed sleeves.

Through the creative process, he explores new materials, silhouettes, techniques and colors. From the kilometers of satin that he gathers, the Japanese designer gives life to three-dimensional volumes accompanied by color gradients like living sculptures, just as he creates, with an organza base, clouds of ruffles and gathers, thus creating crinoline dresses or oversized Harlequin outfits.

"The choice of vibrant colors, a meticulous study of volumes, the theatricality of forms, the couture details, the attention to body positivity, and an unconventional idea of feminine seduction—all recurring themes in Tomo Koizumi's artistic output—have fascinated Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana since the young designer's earliest creations."the company emphasizes in a statement.
Tomo Koizumi's vibrant colors and sculptural silhouettes are followed and worn by international stars such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Kiko Mizuhara.
