Presented in official competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, Madder marks Jeanne Herry's first selection for the Palme d'Or, following the critical successes of Pupil et I will always see your facesThe film follows eight years in the life of a young actress struggling with alcoholism as she tries to build her career and maintain a personal balance.

The lead role is played by Adèle Exarchopoulos, who returns to Cannes thirteen years after winning the Palme d'Or. The Life of AdeleShe plays Garance, a struggling actress whose addiction problems gradually affect her work, relationships, and mental health.

The cast also includes Sara Giraudeau as Pauline, Rudgy Pajany, Sarajeanne Drillaud, and Anne Suarez. Jeanne Herry relies on a primarily French cast and develops a narrative spanning several years, encompassing moves, theatrical tours, parties, and periods of crisis.
