With an already extensive collection of 11 books, MACK Editions is offering, for the first time, access to the screenplays of films produced or distributed by the A24 studio. Beautifully illustrated books, often accompanied by texts from renowned authors.

Already known for the fascinating and impressive Sofia Coppola Archives, MACK Publishing is launching a new collection of film books. In partnership with A24, the leading studio in contemporary American independent cinema, the British publisher will release several books this September that will delight fans of the most exciting films of the moment. The collection features 11 screenplays of films that have generated the most buzz in cinephile communities in recent years: Midsommar by Ari Aster, Lady Bird by Greta Gerwig, The Lighthouse by Robert Eggers, Under the Skin by Jonathan Glazer, Moonlight by Barry Jenkins, The Lobster by Yorgos Lanthimos, and Minari by Lee Isaac Chung.
These books are not only a source of inspiration for aspiring screenwriters, but also beautiful collector's items. True to form, MACK Editions has paid particular attention to both the exterior and interior design of the books. The chapter titles in the screenplay for The Witch (by Robert Eggers) are displayed in Gothic script, like an old grimoire, while the cover of Under the Skin is so black that the book seems to come from another planet. In addition to the complete screenplay, each book includes exclusive content: film stills, behind-the-scenes photographs, and concept art (including that of the humanoid robot from Alex Garland's Ex Machina). Sometimes, supplementary material adds context to the screenplay and extends the viewing experience, such as excerpts from a 19th-century lighthouse keeper's journal for The Lighthouse or childhood photos of Lee Isaac Chung from a family album for his highly autobiographical Minari.
Finally, the screenplays are always accompanied by often fascinating texts from film specialists or various artists whose sensibilities resonate with the film's themes. For example, in addition to The Lobster, readers will find an essay by Ottessa Moshfegh and a poem by Emma Stone (with whom Yorgos Lanthimos worked on his later films). The screenplay for Hereditary opens with a preface by Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho, while the script for 20th Century Women (by Mike Mills) features a conversation between the director and novelist Maggie Nelson.
In addition to this collection of screenplays, MACK offers other books published in partnership with A24: a guide to film makeup (Beauty of the Beast, by Emily Schubert), an encyclopedia of clothing and fashion in the series Euphoria (Euphoria Fashion, by Heidi Bivens), a history of promotional merchandise produced by Hollywood since the 1970s (For Promotional Use Only), and even a cookbook of film-inspired recipes, Scrounging: A Cookbook (the "divorced dad French toast" recipe from Kramer vs. Kramer is highly recommended). In short, enough to easily fill any film buff's library.
