REVISIT LE CORBUSIER'S LC14 CABANON STOOL
At the heart of the design and fashion world, a unique collaboration between two Italian icons, Cassina and Bottega Veneta, has given rise to a captivating reinterpretation of the Cabanon LC14 stool, an emblematic piece created by Le Corbusier in 1952 in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. This remarkable event was celebrated during Bottega Veneta's Fall/Winter 2024 show, marking a new milestone in the history of design and creativity.

During this fashion show, stools, faithful to the original aesthetic designed by Le Corbusier, served as seating to present the latest collection from the Venetian brand, created under the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy for the fifth consecutive time. Cassina and Bottega Veneta jointly developed a contemporary version of this iconic object, merging the worlds of fashion and luxury design with exceptional skill.
This adaptation, rooted in a deep respect for Le Corbusier's work, has been infused with a touch of innovation and creativity unique to each house. Symbols of Cassina's artisanal expertise and Bottega Veneta's ongoing commitment to artisanal innovation, the stools have been rendered unique through a charred finish inspired by Japanese traditions. This method, in addition to naturally protecting the wood, reveals the unique characteristics of its texture, thus offering a striking visual impact.
In parallel, as part of Milan Design Week, Bottega Veneta presented On The Rocks, an installation created in partnership with Cassina and the Le Corbusier Foundation to showcase the Cabanon LC14 stool, a true symbol of the excellence of Cassina's cabinetmaking workshop. Inspired by a whisky tin found by Le Corbusier on the beach at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, this seat embodies the innovative and visionary spirit of its creator, and today pays homage to the designer's timeless lines while highlighting his lasting influence in the fields of architecture and design.
Cassina, Bottega Veneta, and the Le Corbusier Foundation celebrate the harmonious union of design, fashion, and craftsmanship. Through this reinterpretation, currently available for purchase, these Italian houses perpetuate Le Corbusier's legacy while breathing new life into a legendary object, thus demonstrating the vitality and ceaseless creativity of the design world.
