More artist than designer, this former engineer explores all avenues of creation, venturing off the beaten path. Resolutely free, like the leading figures of the Bauhaus movement from whom he draws inspiration, he works to create new forms. An innovative perspective on design that combines traditional craftsmanship and contemporary trends! And the Toutaime lamp is a perfect example. Halfway between a sculptural work and a table lamp, this delicate object is adorned with alabaster to diffuse its soft and refined light. Composed of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and artisans, the Franck Genser workshop combines exceptional skills to create each of the designer's pieces. Walnut, parchment, marble, or Japanese lacquer: the workshop uses only the finest materials, whose meticulous details border on the sublime. In the expert hands of its collaborators, these refined materials are transformed into unique pieces of furniture. Take the Shogun dining table, for example! Born from the striking encounter between Franck Genser's minimalist spirit and Japanese aesthetics, this table is almost too beautiful to sit on. The red lacquer is unparalleled in its ability to transform the traditional warmth of beech into a highly graphic element. In January 2024, Franck Genser opened his first showroom at a discreet address in the heart of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. Located at 121 Boulevard Saint-Germain, in a prestigious setting that once housed Yves Saint Laurent's private conversations with his psychiatrist, the designer presents his iconic pieces. In a hushed and elegant atmosphere, the King Kong sofa, the Chumtak desk, and the Iko floor lamps are on display. Trained in Gestalt therapy, Franck Genser brings to life in this historically rich space his approach, centered on the constant interaction between human beings and their environment. Beyond a purely aesthetic pursuit, the studio's work strives to combine functionality, art, and sensory perception. The result? Objects brimming with emotion that one cannot help but fall in love with.
