The design scene buzzed in the heart of London's Mayfair district from October 10th to 15th. And for good reason: PAD, a fair dedicated to historical and contemporary design, set up shop there to showcase the finest creations in the field. Acumen presents its top four.
PHILIA GALLERY
With "Contrasts," Galerie Philia made its debut at the London fair. In addition to an oil painting by Nicolas de Staël, the international gallery presented design enthusiasts with three pieces by Italian designer Pietro Franceschini, a marble candelabra by Mexican designer Andrés Monnier, a table by the Italian design duo Studiopepe, and Rick Owens's highly unusual Tomb Chair, crafted from marble and adorned with elk antler. The presentation was rounded out by ceramic wall and floor lamps by Elsa Foulon.

LAFFANOUR / DOWNTOWN GALLERY
This year, Galerie Downtown showcased the work of French artist Richard Texier. Among the pieces presented were the Savana Circus floor lamp and the Aquatic Candelabra chandelier. Inspired by the world of flora and fauna, his sculptural creations adhere to the principles of hybridization. Indeed, this zoology enthusiast translates his fascination with the forces of nature through his art, while simultaneously celebrating the beauty of the world. PAD also provided Galerie Downtown with the opportunity to present other pieces designed by leading figures in the field, such as Pierre Jeanneret, Jean Prouvé, and Charlotte Perriand, with her famous Maison du Mexique bookcase produced in 1952.
