Known for reissuing iconic designs from 1930 to the present day, the Danish company Gubi has unveiled the very first creation by the highly promising talent Mathias Steen Rasmussen. Originally designed for his own home, the MR01 chair combines traditional craftsmanship with original ideas in a simple form that is both familiar and modern. After completing his apprenticeship, Rasmussen had previously focused on handcrafting unique pieces and limited series. The MR01 chair is the first of his designs to be created for production. Mathias Steen Rasmussen explains: "The chair stems from a simple construction, optimized for production and made with the intention of lasting as long as the materials themselves allow."
