Policronica, a multidisciplinary architecture agency based between Paris and Lisbon, presents its first furniture collection with bold designs that embody the values of creativity and know-how that have made it famous.

A unique aesthetic signature

Originally founded in 2009 as Studio Combo, Policronica is an architecture firm with offices in Paris and Lisbon that covers a variety of fields, including architecture, design, engineering, manufacturing, and construction. Behind this new name lies the studio's intention to draw upon the principles of a polychronic society to create unique and meaningful spaces and designs. Policronica is committed to demonstrating how flexibility, simultaneity, and the importance of human interaction influence the creative process. The result? Open, flexible, modular interiors and furniture pieces centered on the human experience rather than mere function.

A tactile signature

Policronica recently established its first industrial site in Rio Maior. A research-driven manufacturing environment, Fábrica Policronica functions as a living laboratory for exploring innovative design processes, advanced material treatments, and hybrid production techniques. Within its walls, efforts are made to bridge traditional craftsmanship with digital design and manufacturing tools, particularly around Eucalyptus pilularis. This wood, with its underestimated potential, has become the guiding thread of Policronica's first furniture collection. A beautiful way to imbue each piece with a warm aesthetic that elevates simplicity to the level of refinement! But beyond the pursuit of beauty, this wood allows the company to rethink its furniture production according to a Cradle to Cradle approach. Indeed, Policronica exclusively uses bio-based materials from forests located within 100 kilometers of the factory. This ensures short-circuit production with a reduced carbon footprint, at a time when design must question its impact!

When furniture becomes sculpture…

Presented at Maison&Objet, Policronica's first furniture collection is distinguished above all by its unique architectural visual language. Fusing architecture, craftsmanship, and design, each piece is conceived as a sculptural volume rather than a simple utilitarian object. So much so that each piece of furniture oscillates between functional structure and aesthetic poetry! From this subtle balance emerge unique seating that embodies the tension between comfort and architectural forms. The interplay of volumes, voids, and solids invites an original interpretation of the geometry of lines. An innovative vision that reaches its peak in the world of lighting! We are captivated by these light fixtures inspired by primitive forms and monumental constructions that reinvent the very concept of light. A sensory experience of space. where architectural geometry, the materiality of wood and the narrative fiction of the gesture combine to give meaning to functionality…
