Making a connection between cultures, stories and materials is the objective of this exhibition at the Denver Art Museum, which focuses on the design of Mexican seating.

The chair. An essential element for any self-respecting designer. A source of creative flair, a brand image for publishing houses, a vehicle for technical innovations, it is also a way to evoke the unique stories of a region. This is the approach taken by the Denver Art Museum. The museum juxtaposes three historical artworks with 17 contemporary chairs designed by 22 Mexican artists. This juxtaposition aims to highlight the diverse blends of Indigenous, Asian, African, and European influences that emerged in the aftermath of the Spanish conquest, giving rise to modern Mexican culture.

"The creations presented in this exhibition highlight Mexico's rich cultural heritage and modernity, as well as its place as a world leader in 21st-century design."^e century ", said Christoph Heinrich, director of the Frederick and Jan Mayer section of the Denver Art Museum. "We invite visitors to immerse themselves in the history and spirit of innovation that define Mexican chair design and to discover the artists, their creations, and their inspirations."

Among the contemporary designers featured are Andrés Lhima, Cecilia León de la Barra, Daniel Valero, Bárbara Sánchez-Kane, and Jorge Diego Etienne. Visitors will be able to sit on the various creations, discovering the different currents that have shaped contemporary Mexican design, blending influences from the ancient and colonial world with the modern era of the mid-20th century.
