The London-based Australian photographer plays with artistic expressivity, shaping his surreal, whimsical world of shadows and contrasts.
Daniel Archer grew up in the working-class suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. What motivated his desire to become a photographer were the golden hours of the Australian sun during his childhood, which fueled his imagination. Since then, this photography graduate from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology has been honing his skills to transport us to another world.
"I often approach a project by bringing together a series of elements that subconsciously attract me. Whether it's a work of art, music, film, a dream or even an emotion," he explains, adding, " It ' s the fusion of these elements injected into a singular vision that allows me to create my work and feel in tune with myself as an artist."
This constant fascination has never left her. Her collaborations with a number of brands (Prada, Margiela, Hermès, Cartier, Zara) and magazines(Vogue, Luncheon, D la Repubblica, Rouge Fashion Book, The Cut) reflect this.

Escape from reality
His portfolio offers a beautiful glimpse into this whimsical and singular universe at the crossroads of dreams. Even today, Daniel Archer continues to make it his mantra. A self-proclaimed "expressionist by nature", he treasures the memory of capturing fleeting moments of light and shadow, projecting them in his series with equal softness, dreaminess and elegance.
Like her recent series published in Cultured magazine: "I wanted to create a world that shows fashion as a work of art, exploring that complex dance between the real and the surreal, where clothes become sculptures and models living canvases."
Daniel Archer's work continues his supernatural explorations, probing the beauty in silhouettes and the subtleties of Australian sunset light. For him, everything is a pretext for turning the image into a canvas onto which he injects dreams and nightmares to create richly imaginative stagings.
