MAKING A PLACE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY IN YOUR LIFE

A graduate of the University of Architecture in Ho Chi Minh City, Chiron Duong discovered photography at the same time as his studies. In a world where stress and performance play a major role in students' lives, photography appears to him as a singular means of expressing his innermost thoughts and deepest feelings. A child of the fields, he seeks in his photos the tranquility of the Vietnamese countryside where he grew up. Dreamlike landscapes and ethereal atmospheres populate his visuals, transporting us into a floating reality where we lose ourselves with delight. A lovely way to disconnect from the imperatives of landscape architecture... For all that, Chiron Duong is a young man of his time. Drawn by the reality of the times in which he lives, he includes in his work the challenges of the modern world, such as the use of universal telephone technology and the perpetuation of traditions. The result? Works at the crossroads of European and Asian cultures, evoking both the ancient and the modern!

ASIA, AN INEXHAUSTIBLE SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

At nearly 30 years of age, Vietnamese photographer Chiron Duong embodies the creativity of a new generation of contemporary photographers. Inspired by the traditional cultures of his country, he develops a language that combines clothing, nature and flowers. Behind his lens, the artist declares his love for traditional Vietnamese and Asian cultures, which he has studied extensively. Each cocktail of shimmering colors, clashing in vaporous movements, recalls the feelings of mystery that emanate from the folklore of Asian faith and traditions. As vivid as it is exhilarating, this palette of Asian colors also has beautiful stories to tell. Through photography, Chiron Duong sets out to reveal all their secrets. Using photography in the manner of abstract expressionist painters, he reveals a part of his colorful imagination in poetic, visually striking works. More than just images, these are veritable poems...

FOCUS ON "KEEP MY HEART

Chiron Duong's works also evoke the contrast between the soaring, optimistic spirit of the child and the empty soul of the adult in modern society. The invisible, relentless waves of time tend to stifle everyone's emotions and aspirations. With "KEEP MY HEART", the artist wanted to rediscover the inner voices of Vietnamese youth, to immortalize their memories and illuminate their wishes on the path of life with the beauty of intertwined darkness and light. For this project, no fewer than 27 young people aged between 20 and 30 took part in an intimate question-and-answer session to understand the contrast between the subconscious and unconscious worlds and their external and conscious expressions in their clothing choices. It's like a new form of therapy, in which the photographer brings to the surface dreams, doubts and questions linked to the loss of identity, the meaning of life or the connection with oneself and others! Each character is then staged for the duration of a photo in his or her own fantasy world. Actor of his own existence, he oscillates between abstraction and figuration, creating an emotion that is uniquely his own. True to the symphony of colors characteristic of his art, Chiron Duong makes fabrics and accessories dance with virtuosity. His play of light and color invents a new folklore, magnified by dreamlike blurs. The result is nothing less than a veritable ode to life.
