Ella Bats, photographer and finalist of the 36th edition of the Hyères Festival, continues to explore art and fashion in her latest editorial captured at the Hotel Le Grand Mazarin, in the historic Marais district.
Renowned for her singular approach that blends painting and materials with photography, Bats imbues her works with a unique depth by visually translating the inner worlds of her subjects. Heavily influenced by René Girard's theory of desire, which posits that our desires are not innate but imitated, this editorial illustrates how mimetic desire shapes our choices and aspirations. Ella Bats's work thus illuminates the profound connections between individual wishes and social models, offering a nuanced reflection on the complexity of human nature.
