From February 20 to September 20, 2026, the main hall of the City of Economics (Citéco) hosts Kourtney Roy – All Inclusive. A comparative look at globalized tourism, a unique exhibition that puts the photographic universe of the Canadian artist into dialogue with an economic reading of contemporary tourism.

A photographer caught between seduction and unease
Discovered at the Rencontres d'Arles in 2025, Kourtney Roy presents here a selection of thirty photographs at the crossroads of advertising aesthetics and cinema. Pristine beaches, glamorous hotels, cloudless skies: her images initially evoke all the visual codes of idealized tourism, before subtly subverting them. Behind the perfect postcard, her stagings—both seductive and unsettling—reveal a more ambiguous reality, poised between fascination and unease.
Among the works on display are photographs from several of the artist's iconic series: The Tourist (including Yellow Ferry and Ceviche , 2019), Sorry, No Vacancy (2017), and In Between / Entre Deux Mondes (2022), produced as part of the Grande Commande Photojournalisme, with images taken in Guernsey and Sardinia.

Globalized tourism from an economic perspective
In conjunction with this artistic work, the Cité de l'Économie offers its own interpretive framework, inviting visitors to decipher the economic mechanisms of globalized tourism: inequalities in access to travel, environmental impact, the influence of marketing strategies, and the transformation of territories under tourist pressure. This approach places Kourtney Roy's images within a broader context—that of an industry as lucrative as it is fragile, generating both growth and tension.
